About Lorraine

Lorraine Zdeb is the owner of Love Your Pet™, LLC professional pet sitting company in Somerset County, New Jersey. She is the former president of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters – and now serves as an advisory board member with NAPPS. Since her involvement initiating a then-non-existent animal rescue team after hurricane floyd flooded parts of NJ, Lorraine serves on the State of NJ Animal Emergency Preparedness and Response Committee (AEPARC). Lorraine also supports holistic pet care products from Life’s Abundance. She owns and runs Love Your Pet Pet Care University to help educate both pet owners and pet professionals on basic and advanced methods of care for animals.

Awards

In June of 1996, Lorraine was honored with a Congressional Award for her work with animal rescue groups and educational efforts on behalf of animals. The award was given by Congressman Bob Franks, Seventh Congressional District. In February of 1998, she appeared in Dog Fancy Magazine, as NAPPS second inductee into the NAPPS Hall Of Fame.

She has given numerous seminars, written many articles, and has appeared on Good Day New York, ABCNews, 20/20, NBC, People Magazine, Fox Channel 5, Dr. Jonathan Greenfield’s, The Family Pet, Long Island, NY, as well as many other cable television shows. She has been quoted by: The Wall Street Journal, Miami Herald, Dallas Morning News, and The San Fransisco Examiner, just to name a few. Lorraine has also given many radio interviews all over the United States and Canada.

Natural Dog Treats

To celebrate Love Your Pet’s 25 year anniversary, Lorraine launched the Love Your Pet Shop and now offers her very own Natural Dog Treats, LoveBitez which are chemical, preservative, corn, wheat and soy free, made with organic spelt flour and are made in the USA.

Emergency Animal Rescue

Knowing all too well how tight the human/animal bond is, Lorraine was prepared to help some humans and their pets in 1999 when Hurricane Floyd hit NJ. Gathering her pet sitters, along with volunteers skilled with the care of animals from neighboring towns, Lorraine set up her 5.5 acre farm as a triage unit. With the use of her renovated barn, and the blessing of well-water, Lorraine and local veterinarians from the Somerset Vet Group and the Hillsborough Veterinary Hospital treated animals brought in by Lorraine’s teammates on The Somerset County Animal Rescue Team. Food was delivered by pet stores and Lorraine helped other volunteers distribute it to families’ pets in damaged parts of Bound Brook and Manville. She and her team visited area ‘people shelters’ and gathered information on lost pets and comforted local residents whose homes were lost. She calmly assured them that she had several temporary foster homes set up for their pets. Lorraine and her teammates helped transport large dogs and other pets to dog kennels where there was more room and answered incoming phone calls from frantic pet owners.

Dances With Wolves

Lorraine is a frequent invited speaker for local events and tv programs involving her study of wolves. She is also a Wolf Song Of Alaska wolf education volunteer.

Promoting Responsible Pet Guardianship

Lorraine is a dedicated pet guardian and works to educate pet owners on responsible pet guardianship. At Colonial Park, in the leash-free dog park, stands a dog statue she & her twin sister and fellow pet sitter, Lillian donated. The plaque reads:
