| Hurricane Floyd - 1999 |
|
During Tropical Storm Floyd's aftermath, Christine was part of the Somerset County Animal Rescue Team along with other members of Love Your Pet. She aided the rescue operation by using her four-wheel drive vehicle to drive through flooded areas of Manville, Bound Brook and Somerville to transport abandoned animals from the arms of Animal Control Officers to the triage unit where a veterinarian was waiting to treat them. Additionally, she helped treat, feed and give water to pets taken in at the triage.
Way to go Christine!!! |

FROM THE BEGINNING...
Christine's love for animals began when she was very young. To satisfy her need to help and interact with four-legged creatures, she began volunteering at a local shelter when she was just a teen, before going on years later, when she was of legal working age, to become a full-time employee. For over five years Christine worked in animal shelters where she was trained to administer injections, subcutaneous fluids, and oral medications to small animals.
CHRISTINE FINDS LOVE YOUR PET...
In order to fulfill her desire to be around animals, Christine signed up as a sub-contractor with Love Your Pet, and began her endeavors almost 11 years ago.

TODAY...
Well, it's many years later, and Christine's workload of pets has grown tremendously. Though several of her jobs include caring for canines and felines, Christine's caregiving is not just limited to your average household of "Fluffy" and "Fido"! Many of Christine's "clients" are exotic pets such as birds, reptiles, Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pigs, and rodents like hamsters and Gerbils. She also 'sits' for chickens, geese, and full-sized pigs as well as other farm animals. On one occasion she actually pet sat for one very large Black Angus Bull! ON A PERSONAL NOTE...
Christine is has been an Ovo-Lacto Vegetarian for almost 18 years. (Ovo-Lacto means that she does not eat any meat or meat biproducts, but does enjoy dairy foods). Christine has an affinity for cats -- orange ones in particular --and many are named after vegetables! One specifically, is very special to her. His name is PumpkinCarrots and he is pictured with Christine up in the left hand corner. She is so involved with pets that her 1 year old daughter's very first word was...yep, you guessed it - CAT!

"Cheez" - helping himself to some goodies from a treat jar, is a rescue kitty from Hurricane Floyd. He and his brother, Little Mr. Floyd, and sister, Baby Tux, were just itty bitty kitties when Christine rescued them from the onslaught of Floyd's Flood. |
